SHELL TRAVEL CLUB

Frieda's next day trip is to the Society of Apothecaries.  Dating back as far as 1180 when the Guild of Peppers was first recorded, it became a City Livery Company by Royal Charter in 1617 (James 1). It has an incredible history what with the Great Plague (1665), the Great Fire Of London (1666), the acquisition of the Chelsea Physic Garden in 1673, the NHS introduced in 1948 and in 2017 celebrating it's 400th Anniversary.

Famous people to pass through it's doors include John Keats, Elizabeth Garrett (1865), Sir Ronald Ross (Nobel Prizewinner and Malaria pioneer) -1915, and Agatha Christie (1917) amongst many.

Our next AGM will be held at Tyrell's Wood Golf Club, home to one of the finest golf clubs in Surrey.  The Club is located in Leatherhead within easy reach of the M25 and the A3.
